Matt Bashir's new appointment as Principal of notoriously violent Boxdale Boys High brings him into conflict with the burnt-out staff, as his radical reforms are met with cynicism. He doesn't fare much better with the students, who predict he won't last a week. But just when it seems he is making progress, a student is found dead on school grounds.
