In a world where people live by Cajun justice, the Sheriff is like a king, and voodoo is practiced, they are the police. The detectives and deputies of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Department are the guardians charged with serving and protecting this one-of-a-kind terrain. Forty five miles south of New Orleans and covering 2,000 square miles of treacherous swampland, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Department investigates thousands of criminal incidents every year. But this is no ordinary cop show. With the fiery personalities of the local Cajuns and the uniqueness of the Louisiana justice system, there’s no such thing as a routine police call.

Mardi Gras is the biggest party of the year in Southern Louisiana, and it doesn't just happen in New Orleans. Terrebonne Parish is home to the second biggest Mardi Gras in the state, which means the deputies are working around the clock. Deputy Paul "Highlights" Thibodeaux is dispatched to a routine alarm call at a warehouse only to find out that an expensive sound system has been snatched from a high-profile Mardi Gras float. He passes the case onto Detective Lt. Terry Daigre who gets a hot lead and sets up a stakeout a local bar. When the suspect comes in to the bar trying to sell the sound system, Daigre gets ready to pounce. Also, Deputy Melissa "Catfish" Quintal tries to settle a dispute between an estranged husband and wife who are disputing over their Mardi Gras beads, and Deputy Keith Bergeron must settle down the rowdy riders of a party bus.
The local shrimpers in Terrebonne Parish are notorious for handling their own problems and don't like interference from the cops. However, when Sgt. Dudley "DJ" Authement gets a call about a disturbance on a shrimping vessel, he has to call in the SWAT team when he realizes the captain has taken a deckhand hostage and is trying to escape through the bayou's waterways. Also, Deputy Melissa "Catfish" Quintal tries to get to the bottom of a fight between two shrimpers, but both are tight-lipped and won't confess to the scuffle that left one of the fishermen with a nearly severed finger. And Deputy Tom Arnold investigates a disturbance in the deep woods, ultimately confronting two teenage boys who are placing bait and setting traps to bag the ultimate prize.
Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois is the most powerful man in town--overseeing the investigation of every strange and eerie occurrence in the region. In this episode, his deputies deal with a wide range of cases you'll only see in Cajun country: Deputy Melissa "Catfish" Quintal, originally from Massachusetts, responds to the report of a nighttime voodoo ritual taking place in abandoned shed deep in the bayou; Deputy Paul "Highlights" Thibodeaux delves into a case of an ornery citizen who plans to take justice into his own hands after his air conditioner was snitched during a heat wave, and Sheriff Bourgeois and his entire team are on the hunt for an elusive drug dealer known as "Jesse James" that takes them all into the creepy, creature-infested swamps.
